There's something to this "Xbox is so weak" narrative that I can't put my finger on but strikes me as a weird kind of political theater? Like there is some empirical truth that MS needs reverse the deceleration of the "releasing fewer games sells fewer consoles" circular logic, but also MS is the biggest company out there and whatever Xbox does or doesn't feels like it's at the whims of other forces. I can't tell where one starts and the other stops but I can't shake the whiff of made up punditry
it's people who want to cover "the games industry" like sports, and people who want to follow it like that, creating a horrible circus for the entire industry, and also capitalism just kinda tossing dollar bills into the cage match disinterestedly.
very hard for me to not see Digital Foundry going over PS4 vs Xbone port screenshot comparisons with a microscope to determine which console "won" and like, F1 racing as practically indistinguishable
