I am going to go back and spruce up my personal website. I might get a less dorky domain name for it. It already has an RSS feed, but I might change platforms to something a bit easier to post to – currently it's a static website generated with Jekyll and hosted on Render, but maybe I want something with a CMS.

Does anyone here have experience with write.as or the self-hosted version of that? Does anyone have experience with their commenting platform?

I will definitely expand a section in it to include more links to other people's blogs.

I'm also very much considering in setting up a private discord specifically for game developers who are/were here on Cohost. I miss having a place for craft/industry discussion1, and I think this might be a good opportunity to make one. Please poke me about it if you're interested.

I'm also going to maybe post some sad songs on here.

  1. The tea is that I was in one such discord but left for reasons of 'it sucked too much ass'

I have, indeed, created a Discord server. For now I'm only inviting people I know are in the industry (not necessarily people I know personally) who have expressed explicit interest, but I'll broaden that net gradually. Let me know if you're interested.

Edit: If you are, help me out – make sure I can see your Discord info your profile page, eg by adding it to the 'private contact info' section and following me.

Further edit: It also helps if I can tell who you are in the in the industry, as in, your profile points to stuff you've done rather than being totally pseudonymoua

We aren’t mutuals, and I would not feel even a little bit slighted if you wanted to reserve that space for people you know personally, but if you had something broader in mind I would be really excited about it!

Same here. I really liked the cohost dev scene deep dives (and shitposts), but having been in some private indie dev groups in the past I would understand the desire to keep it to people you personally know/within a degree. Breaches of "it's not private but it is candid" trust are a killer for those.

I'm interested - I don't expect anything since no output yet, but I'm interested nonetheless for when that net gets widened. Game dev cohost was one of my favorite things to follow along with and it's been very helpful for small projects

Howdy, Bruno. I'm interested in joining the discord. I’ve only published one project I consider a game so far, but it received more support than I had hoped and bolstered my spirits enough to throw my hat in the ring. I'm currently pursuing a game design MFA while working on my own projects. I feel like I'd learn a lot about the industry and good narrative design practice from having the opportunity to join. Both the game I mentioned above and my discord are linked to on my profile!

I didn't end up using cohost as much as I'd have liked and am sad now that I didn't - but I'd very much enjoy being in a games-people discord if you were happy with that! My username is hpowellsmith
