ok . the reason why bryce was calmer in a way after liam had thought that the notes with the long strings of numbers were connected to the radio in the apartment is that liam had vented to bryce what had happened when they drowned, explaining the waiting room, and bryce was comforting them after that and (presumably) bryce was thinking of that.
