hi I'm Ethan, I'm a chemist+musician and I yell at/into the void frequently

...I hate that twitter is what I am linking but it is the most public facing thing I have so 24truetonetenor there! most usernames I will make in the future will have something about Buescher and/or True Tone in them though because I'm uninventive with usernames and autistic about the history of musical instrument manufacturing.

Cohost has been very fun though yay

I'm still thinking about that boneless chicken verdict and the absolute reasoning these ohio supreme court judges came up with

it goes a lil something like this

boneless chicken having bones is equivalent to chicken fingers not having fingers

ie. when you order boneless chicken wings, you should expect there to be bones, just as when you order chicken fingers, you should expect there not to be fingers in there

...

FUCKING WHAT

and multiple supreme court judges signed off on this absolute caved-in skull logic

kendrick was right, fuck a judge

in reply to @surasshu's post:

specifically that boneless wings don't actually use wing meat, so they shouldn't be expected to be boneless either
still very wrong, being boneless is obviously the whole point of them, but there is a thread of logic holding the idea together

iirc, someone ordered boneless chicken wings and nearly died because there was a long thin bone in it that like, shredded his organs, then sued--now the ohio court ruled against him because of the above bullshit reasoning. basically it's just another way that normal folks' power to hold giant corporations accountable has been eroded by a bunch of judges

I feel like I'm being paranoid, but this seems like it has the potential to be one of the most dangerous decisions ever, because it means that interpretations of the law, literally, don't even have to worry about parsing english grammar correctly, meaning judges could, again, literally just say anything means anything

i really feel like this is not that far off from just being like, "even though the packaging says "peanut free" and you ate it and died because of your peanut allergy, the company is still not accountable" like. it's not THAT far off in my mind! the guy who sued nearly died!
