last night i shut Windows down, saw an error message along the lines of "random app didn't terminate", i let it be thinking Windows would be smart enough to just kill the process.

i found the PC still on and basically frozen at the lock screen this morning :)

garbage OS, god

While not as catastrophic, I've had a issue where windows doesn't shut down when I ask it to in general.
I literally have to press shut down, wait for it to inevitably fail, then shut down again.

It does this with random programs. It does this with Firefox and Steam.

It'd be faster to just use the shut down button on my computers tower but that just breaks things

in reply to @eramdam's post:

I very frequently have to click to kill Outlook at shutdown time on my work computer exactly like that.

However I will say this category of problem is not exclusive to Windows, Steam will do this to my Linux desktop and leave it in a broken state where I can't log out or shut down from the menu anymore.
