AI Art strikes me as something that could be useful as a concept art thing for character and world development, surreal backgrounds and what have you. Like, a few weeks ago i used the AI generation stuff to help figure out a design for a character i've been working on-- not entirely to use as a base but to get a general baseline of what i want it to look like. Also: spooky surreal backgrounds; you can make some freaky surreal backgrounds. Friend of mine was wanting to use AI generation stuff to make backgrounds for a visual novel that felt dreamlike or something
Unfortunately the way its looking with AI art is really terrible for artists and people in general right now. Art theft is already a massive problem, but you throw a generator that can basically generate literally any art in any style? That shit is terrible. There was a thing not too long ago of like, how an artist had their unfinished art finished by some random asshole, who then claimed the artist stole from them.
And that's not going into the fact that some artists are gonna get their livelyhoods hurt by people wanting to generate "FREE ANIME TIDDIES" instead of paying for something by an actual artist, which... honestly, human made art has more of a soul than AI art, always will. AI Art strikes me as soulless and it still has trouble getting everything down, from drawing hands to faces and all that. And proportions being very fucky too.
AI Art should be used as a tool I feel but, goddamn is it disheartening that people are using it to steal and fuck over artists. Imo AI Art should be like... I feel like if it was somehow decided, "All AI art is in public domain and you can't copyright it" or something, that would be a good course of option. Outside of just hoping people don't do anything fucking stupid.
Either way support artists ya'll, seriously. They're gonna have a rougher time in the future because of dumbasses trying to use it for nefarious money-grubbing reasons.
