The first doll I met, I never would have realized it was a doll.

They can be terrifyingly good at masking. Their Purpose can demand as much at times.

The only reason I realized it was a doll was because I happened to know its witch.

They were grocery shopping together, and I knew that she lived with only her doll.

Put two and two together, and voila.

See, now the thing is, once you know what to look for, you begin to see it everywhere.

Began to recognize the signs of dollhood.

And it isn't usually just how focused they can be, how well they take to assignments, the occasional third person speech.

There's a distinct lack of "personhood" to them.

They feel... Different. That's the best way I can describe it.

But one thing I need to clarify: the lacking of "personhood" isn't a negative.

No. It's much more rather...

They "aren't a person" in the most wonderful ways.

Like their witches, ones such as these defy being chained down to such base notions such as personhood.

And they are all the better for it.

They are free to be whatever they want to be.

No matter what that is.
