so every now and then people assume i'm american despite the extent of my time in america amounting to a few hours in miami airport. which is very weird and confusing. i recently realised that it's possible that my regional accent is just obscure enough that some people aren't familiar with it and it has a kind of drawl that sounds american to some people (especially since i only started getting comments on it after i left my hometown)
