Love this genius bit of paneling in Junji Ito’s Cat Diary where the bars of the cage become the gutters for the next panel, stretching out the little kitten’s stare in time—but they don’t puncture the panel and retain the slightest curve, so they never fully stop being the bars of a cage; it’s not just a long stare, but one that suggests a mixture of menace and pitiability.
