instead of new year's resolutions, i do seasonal themes (as described in this video). this past year, i had:
- the Winter of Preparation, which helped me get past decision paralysis about some big things which Just Needed Doing. success: 8/10
- the Spring of Rest, because i was pushing myself way too hard on stuff and needed to get myself to take a nap. it kiiiiinda worked? this was the weakest theme, tbh. success: 5/10
- the Summer of Food, because i wanted to expand my cooking repertoire some. i made some nice meals, but tbh i tended to gravitate back to rice and beans for budget reasons. success: 6/10
- the Autumn of Learning, during which i learned game engine design, the basics of rope dart, how to use a laserdisc player, and probably some other stuff. also i went running a bunch, which i feel counts as a learning experience. success: 9/10
- the Winter of Basking, which is what i'm currently in! for the next two months i'm gonna be doing my best to appreciate every aspect of life without second-guessing my own happiness. we'll see how it goes but so far it's looking pretty great
honestly i like this scaffolding a lot. it provides very concrete directions in which to grow, and the regular updating of themes means i can continually choose where i want to go next! soon i will rule the world
