Do it! Let me know if you have any questions :) First thing to know is that there are two main umbrella categories for yoyos. Responsive and Unresponsive. Responsive yoyos are what most people think of, they come back up when you tug on it. Unresponsive yoyos require a technique called a bind to make them return. Starting you want to make sure you get a responsive one!
for a year or two when i was a kid, yo-yos got really faddy and everyone had, like, a yomega fireball or something like that and the sense memory of the thing rocketing back up into my palm and stinging the skin there is still with me. i think it’ll be fun to mess around with.
