a refsheet for the Arctic Kiteras, one of the three major branches of the kitera species! more info below the cut!~
-
Arctic Kiteras are the smallest type of kitera overall, standing at a height range similar to other "small" species like Grukainians, Lowland Tconaras, and most Ploctites.
-
Although they have lower mineral content in their diets and less visible gems on their bodies, arctic kiteras are still good at digging, most often making shallow burrows and tunnels in the ground and ice.
-
Multiple adaptations that Desert and Jungle Kiteras have, (such as advanced nightvision and echolocation) are missing or less developed on Arctic Kiteras, since they never had to adapt to Rhiotara's underground.
-
They are the least numerous of the three main types of kiteras, due to the fact that they only live in one region on their home planet. Their society and culture has developed mostly independently from the Desert Kiteras, but there has been some historical contact between the two groups. The classic fable, Princesses of Ice and Fire, depicts a story of drama, romance, and intrigue between an Arctic Kitera kingdom in the north and a Desert Kitera kingdom underground.
-
Arctic Kiteras have kept alive a long tradition of Astronomy that went mostly forgotten when the rest of the ancient proto-kiteras moved underground.
-
The "third sun myth" from kitera mythology is largely absent from Arctic Kitera culture, as this is a belief that developed sometime after the underground migration. This is a notable exception, as even the Jungle Kitera cultures on planet Alakinec feature the third sun myth in some form; this is because Jungle Kiteras decended later from the already cave-dwelling Desert Kiteras.
