im over halfway through @doublefine's brutal legend right now, i think its pretty cool
this is the first console rts that ive played and i think its pretty ok!
its not amazing, its not horrendous, the gameplay is i think pretty decent
ive only been playing the single player campaign so far i should mention (i feel like the multiplayer probably isnt very active, except for rocktober 13th of course)
the side quests in the single player has a couple different types, but it can be pretty repetitive
it hasnt really been repetitive to the point of annoyance though, there's jussst enough there for me to keep my attention
theyre mostly there to grind out more fire tributes to buy things from ozzy osbournes car shop
the main quest in the single player has been going pretty well so far, the stage battles dont feel impossible and ive been able to manage them ok
stage battles are basically your rts battles, making merch fan towers (your resource for making units), defending them from the enemy, going down and causing some damage yourself, leading your army to the enemy base and taking it over
theres definitely a bit of a stress trying to keep track of where the enemy is headed, it can be a little finicky when it comes to controlling individual squads and putting them in the places you want to be
all in all though, ive been dealing with the mechanics alright, its been pretty cool
the pseudo-open world you can drive around in is really neat, the car is cool and the sky box is magnificent
there are little collectibles scattered around the world (the serpents, buried metal, lightning bug jumps, more entrances to ozzy's place, etc) and theyre fun to hunt around for, they like being sneaky with those serpents and hiding them in corners of the map
for every 10 serpents you get a nice lil upgrade, ive got near 1/3 of them so far (120 in total x_x)
you have heavy rock and metal being blasted out of your car 24/7, playing All Of The Hits 🔥🤘
let me tell you about the god damn presentation of this game, the Art Direction
while the gameplay might be a little bit on the average side, the look of this game!!!!
it looks so good!!! im playing on a ps3 and the visuals still hold up pretty magnificently more than 10 years later
everything has this larger than life feel, there are these gigantic monuments
this combined with the metal constantly being blasted, the game has really good vibes to just chill and rock out to
the story is pretty good i think, all of the voice cast is great, the game is funny and this whole world is really cool to just take in and absorb myself into
jack black remains a goated actor, always and forever
brutal legend probably isnt a perfect game
but ive definitely been enjoying my time with it so far
i probably wont dive into the multiplayer? (at least until rocktober 13th rolls around)
but im excited to finish off the single player campaign
looking at the environments, monuments, enemies, units of this game makes me want to draw them really bad
need to try and practice that
i finished brutal legend yesterday!
was pretty cool
i had fun with it
