I think it lands better in Brazilian Portuguese (Estou amadurecendo ou apenas... apodrecendo?
) because amadurecer is a verb that we use a lot for ripe fruits, for example. Basically, it's like a ripe fruit and a mature person are "the same" in some way?
So, as a fruit becomes rotten after the ripe stage, I see a person can become "rotten" after maturing too much (or maturing in the wrong way somehow)
That is a question I made to myself after I wrote it to my poor character. My FL doesn't have a break at all, poor girl.
