I have two remaining questions when it comes to cohost right now and both have to do with shares
is there anyway for someone who's not the op to see comments made in shares of posts? and in addition to that is there anyway for them to see tags as well?
if someone can see the share, they can see the tags and the comments made both on the share and the original post
if someone only sees the OP's post, they'll only be able to see the tags and comments on that post, not anything on shares

also sometimes an OP will edit their post with links to highlight shares that had good additions to their post, or sometimes they will just share your share if they want to boost your additions
also adding to this; if you added tags to the share, they will show up in the timeline for people who follow you, but they will not show up in the global search, only on the page like "posts by <user> tagged <tag>" when you click on a tag while viewing someone's profile, i.e. for example this one https://cohost.org/butchdragongirl/tagged/eri%20post
so adding tags to a share is moooooostly just for fun or adding little comments that dont warrant an entire post or comment
The latter part isn't correct if im reading right, are you saying that sharing a post and tagging it doesn't put it into the global tag feeds? because I've reshared my posts to add tags I've forgotten to add them to the top of the relevant feeds, and I've seen plenty of posts with additions from other people in the tags before!
I think it's possible that if you're not the OP and you dont add any addition to the post, just plain share the post as it is and tag it, then it won't show up in the tags. But if you add something to the post and definitely if it's your own post, tags do still apply globally on shares.
lets take a random post from my feed as an example:

this was a share with nothing filled in in the title or post body and only with an extra tag added to the original post. you can see that a share like that appears as "@ atomheart shared with: #Hazard diamond"
but if you go to look at that tag:
https://cohost.org/rc/tagged/Hazard%20diamond
you will see that that share is not listed on that tag, and in fact, no post is listed because its the first time that tag was ever used
i'm preeeeeetty sure that even if you are the OP and you share with extra tags in this way, the post will never appear in the search for that tag. if you edit your post to add a tag it will show up retroactively on that tag. but editing is not a share obviously ^^
EDIT: the only place a "share with tags" like this will appear in a search is searching the user's profile for posts with that tag, i.e. this page:
humm i could have sworn I added a post of mine to the global feed last week by sharing with the tags I missed and I remember checking to see if it ended up in the tags, and I've seen people suggesting to tag art you share with things to increase their visibility before but perhaps it didn't get added and it just happened to be shared more because i reposted at a better time. And if it did get added there may be some specific conditions for this, I also edited the posts but not to add any tags I rearranged the images in them and I wonder if that could contribute..?
Regardless, adding something onto the post and then tagging it definitely does re-add it to the global feeds as you can see many examples of this if you just scroll through the public tags!
