on the subject of katamari's continued existence as a franchise, i only recently discovered what the last original katamari game, the vita-exclusive Touch My Katamari, was like. i'd never really looked into it. it turns out this was the one post-keita game where they decided to just get weird with it and do something different, mainly in terms of aesthetics
for one the king of all cosmos looks scary in this one with a weird photo texture face that perpetually makes it look like he's been crying
but also he has a full 3d model so that he can do mocap dances now
but ALSO the story cutscenes were done by AC-bu of galo sengen/those weird bits in pop team epic/etc. fame
what a combination
