sometimes I think about interesting ways to hide secrets in a video game. and then I remember that secrets in video games are basically dead because some datamining scum will find any damn thing after like a week and I get sad

So what you need to do is derive an encryption key from the player’s actions, and only by doing the right things in the right order will you create at runtime the key necessary to decode the assets…

not everyone who plays your game will be online in the way that would expose them to the results of that datamining. probably most won't be. every new player has a chance to discover things on their own

i think you can be confident that your experience of datamining is sampling bias due to you being that kind of online
