so fun fact they did have them but "nesting a block element in an <a />" isn't even remotely legal html and caused difficult to debug issues in Every Single Browser Engine. would gladly accept alternate ways for us to have the entire div be a link.
i think this is why on twitter middle clicks are wired up to some janky popover event handler (which causes them to not go to a background tab)

the simple answer is "make the outer row an A with display: block and make all the DIVs inside it SPANs with display: block instead
