honestly i think emojis are nice and all but there was a specific kind of creativity in coming up with the right text emote for the job like o_O or ^_^ or :3

keep it extra furry when you're feeling good with ^w^

[^w^]

(which works better on Telegram and Discord bc the [^w^] is interrupted somewhat by the unhelpful backticks and manually typing out <kbd> is worse)

although if i were more insufferable on line i'd set a wincompose shortcut for 【=β—ˆοΈΏβ—ˆ=】. although kaomoji are a whole other deal

in reply to @cactus's post:

oh wincompose seems interesting, kind of like allchars way the fuck back. now i have stuff like (αƒ¦Λ˜Ο‰Λ˜αƒ¦) and (´・ω・`) and α••( ᐛ )α•— in addition to Γ₯èïçóñ β€”ΒΏ etc on AHK macros that generally start with a /, but this carries the problems of 1. having to remember them (usually not a problem with the diacritics but the kaomoji get fucky because i don't actually use them much) and 2. sometimes they accidentally happen or i have to work around them to type out something specific like a URL.
still better IMO than the problem i had with allchars eating the next two keypresses if you pressed and unpressed control by itself (iirc this shit getting me killed in TF2 is actually part of why i switched to ESDF, lmfao).
right alt seems like a more sensible key to hijack if not impossible to press on accident but do i like to have full control over what macros i have and how they're comprised. however i'm sure the defaults can be changed so i'm gonna have to very strongly consider it. thanks for mentioning it

i have my compose key set to f24 which is bound to one of my random extra keys on my ergodox. the default settings aren't always perfectly intuitive but like 80% of the time i don't have to look up the shortcut if i want ΓΈ or Γ€ or β†’ or what have you
