alas, i have acquired a Hardware Project Idea, and so for the first time since approximately high school, hardware is my problem again.

unfortunately, all the interesting software is already done, because displaying a time as .beats is really easy. the hard part is knowing what time it is, and right now, all i know is what time it was when i compiled the code, which is impressive but not particularly useful. and alas, the correct solution is unavailable. (well, it's available at no small hassle, which rounds off to the same thing.) conveniently, i have an incorrect solution lined up.
