RSS didn't technically die with Google Reader, yeah, but like. neither did XMPP die with Google Talk, and look how that's going.

there are still Gopher users, but Gopher is not happening. it seems like Gopher 2: We Also Reinvented Markdown For No Reason didn't wind up happening either (although I haven't checked in a while).

we can't just retvrn to the Yahoo Pipes era by pretending it never ended.
