We can bring about the return of internet time (formerly known as swatch internet time)
or we can choose the path less taken. why do UTC (UTC+1, technically, but that hardly makes it any more interesting) in decimal when you could do hyperlocal time in seximal.
i have yet to finish thinking through the system that is for historical reasons called Meme Solar Time despite not being based on mean solar time anymore, but essentially, the idea is that the day starts at sunrise and the night starts at sunset and the time is some proportion through the day or night, probably a pernif since that's a nice quantity.
i don't have the math quite worked out yet, because it turns out it's actually really complicated to deal with apparent solar time and sunrise/sunset, but it looks like aside from the apparent solar time thing i'm writing this at uhhhhh 23 pernif through the night Denver time. (i haven't put much thought into notation yet. maybe that's spelled π23?)
also, obligatory So You Want To Abolish Time Zones, and counter-obligatory So You Want Continuous Time Zones which I'm mitigating some of by eventually defining regardless of seconds and relative to UTC or UT1 or some shit i don't remember anymore, some of by rounding to a landmark with coordinates on Wikipedia, and some of by not caring
