well hey, i have now updated my blog to run on 11ty, and with luck the only reader-facing changes are new syntax highlighting colors and links to headings actually working.

i am a little bit upset that with syntax highlighting, Markdown code blocks that contain only plain text don’t get <>s autoescaped and i have to manually <, and it took me a while to restore some things that were easy earlier, but the syntax highlighting is also way simpler to extend, so my survey of Rust-embeddable scripting languages has syntax highlighting for even the really obscure languages, and my Crowbar examples are just as well-highlighted as their C counterparts. i would not say i'm loving 11ty but it sure does actually work and apparently a genuinely astonishing number of things just don't.

i have yet to decide whether i'm ready to start moving my best chosts over or if i want to do something silly first like implementing blog post tags or overhauling my projects page or doing some actual design. i guess there's no longer any particular rush.

i'm also not quite sure what i want to do about messages as distinct from posts etc - i will still be spending two hours a day on twitter in the year 2030 when musk has driven it fully into the ground and can’t find a buyer for more than $3.95 because opening the app makes a swarm of bees fly out of your phone in real life, so i know where i will be posting garbage with two seconds of thought put in, but it’s not like the bullshit ephemera on here from a year ago are particularly worth reposting to twitter now.
