ok i think i may need to find a way to either disable or replace the animations themselves, in addition to fixing my very poorly chosen vertex weights. but i think this might actually be coming together
if i do a slightly better job setting the vertex weights it’s not quite enough and somehow he starts faceplanting again. if i set all the vertex weights so that only one bone actually does anything, then at least no parts of the model start clipping into each other, and if he’s faceplanting into the carpet then i can just rotate the mesh to offset for that. or alternatively i can use the Wind-up Airship instead and then the angles are fine and the idle animation is a lot more understated. i’m not sure there even are any minions with six legs, so the ceiling on how good the animations would be able to look is fairly low anyway.
i think what i’m going to do is ship an option, because the slightly janky Great Eggbug of Ronka is a lot cuter to just wander town with, but the Wind-up Eggbug behaves a lot more predictably and would likely be better for gposing. i still have a couple texture details i want to smooth out - i’m still using the normal/specular textures from the Great Serpent of Ronka, and they’re mostly empty (a lot less busy than the Wind-up Airship) but not quite, so it might be smart to actually empty those out, and there’s an opacity texture that’s worth at least a brief investigation for the wings - but i think i might have something actually posted and out the door by later this week.
