PSA: this is the wrong time to try to sell 6.2 crafted gear. i made one of each of the weapons last night just kinda because, but only one of them has sold so far. i checked the history on some of them and the transaction volume is like two or three a day at this point, so the price is just gradually declining as the dozen people who have a listing all keep undercutting each other.

i keep getting tempted to undercut by like 100k in the hopes that it'll sell faster and i can stop babysitting it all, but i don't think that's going to work. it works (or at least it can work) with commodities with a pretty high volume, but i doubt it works with stuff like end-game crafted gear, because the demand is pretty inelastic. nobody's out there going "oh i won't buy an endgame crafted DRG spear at 400k, but i would buy it at 200k", people either don't want it at any price or they do want it at any price¹. so you sell by having the lowest price at the time when someone decides to buy, and you don't sell any faster by being 100k gil lower than you do by being 1 gil lower. it's possible for another seller to go "oh im not gonna undercut you if you're that low, i'll stay high and wait for the buyer after next" but thats not common at all.

  1. i know there are people who comparison shop across worlds to get the best prices, but anybody who cares that much is already as geared up as they need to be by this point in the patch cycle, and also i doubt thats worth doing to save like 100k gil
