i visited the fallout shelter arcade once and it was very cool, it's literally in a fallout shelter - it's kinda spooky following signs down anonymous hallways to get there but then you're rewarded with battletech pods and a cool dog
as someone who was just a bit too young to ever experience one of these things, ever since i learned of their existence i've been fascinated. what an incredible swing at a game-IP-VR-playspace mashup concept, I'm in awe
Aww, no mention of GameWyze in Plano, TX. That was my local BattleTech center in the mid 00s.
I got introduced to Battletech pretty young (i was probably 7 or 8) and an ad for these was in one of the Battletech things I bought at that time. I wanted to go sooooo badly. It sounded so cool.
Now I live across town from one and could totally go, but still haven't. Per the Youtube videos I've watched, even when I was a kid, the game experience was only marginally better than what I had on my PC at the time (Mechwarrior 2). The extra joysticks and buttons and stuff are cool and all, and I am a button lover, so I'd probably really enjoy going, but... it can't possibly live up to what I want out of it.
Oh, we had like 6 or so of these BattleTech Pods in the arcade at a local ice skating rink. They looked sick as hell but they cost a lot to play. Never got the opportunity to play on one sadly. They closed their arcade like a decade ago.
