Fun thing my laptop has started doing: mysteriously fucking up when the screen is locked so that the password entry box doesn't have focus and can't in any way be made to receive it, including if I pull up the onscreen keyboard that's apparently a thing.
Bonus fun thing: I literally couldn't log in using the onscreen keyboard even if the lock screen was otherwise functioning, because apparently the UI designers responsible don't believe people actually ever use punctuation characters in passwords
