It's possible for it to be simultaneously true that viral-reach mass eyeballs marketing is necessary for small artists to even pretend to themselves it's possible to make any money at it, and also that you're on a hiding to nothing on a platform where the feature design process has literally been explained by the staff as "we went viral on Twitter once and hated it so this place deliberately inhibits reach", people keep complaining about the poor platform usability incurred by the same posts coming up on their timeline again and again and again and again and again in a short timespan under the resulting feature set, and even the people who say they personally don't care ergo it's not a problem aren't doing the Tumblr-style endless accretive injoke thing as much as they used to (as far as I can unscientifically recall)

in short, you can beg people to hit share on everything that catches their eye, but — and I am sorry, however cynical I sound — I absolutely don't think it's really gonna help you.
