“Autism is inborn neurology, not a condition that can be caused, "treated," or cured—not in children, nor in adults. Even so, well-intentioned but misguided researchers as well as blatant hucksters are constantly serving up stigmatizing procedures and "treatments" for autism”

Motherfucker, if the uwu "misguided but legit" are rhetorically and methodologically indistinguishable from what we all know and even the establishment admit are frauds and liars, you are actually lampshading something excruciatingly relevant about "legit" autism research and who gets to be called a Srs Actual Researcher and why

Ah I wanna think thoughts but I (1) read yer post about subposting being maybe better (particularly for negative takes, I don't think mine is negative but it probably is unsolicited), and (2) actually am having a tough time getting a read on the second half of this post. I'd rather ask if it's cool to reply to this post than start up some bullshit, and also ask if you could clarify if I'm reading the right message.

My interpretation of the second half is:
There is effectively no line separating eugenics advocacy from most autism symptom/syndrome mitigation research.

If that sounds right then I have expansion I'd like to add for enrichment purposestm. IDK your background off-hand (so my comments may be redundant to your knowledge pool) but I did spend about 5 years quizzing professional psychologists about Autism Assessment at the rehab I worked at. The field is awash with interesting methodological pitfalls that begin at bad psychometrics and end at the unethical eugenics chatter, I think shining a light from inside might even help identify the problems a little.

Let me know if this sounds cool or not, thankies!

The subposting thing is far more an explanation for Why I'm Like This than any prescriptive position.

You're absolutely right about my stance on the autism research field; I think a large amount of what gets published is appalling. By all means, fire away, that's cool with me!
