Was reading an NHS-provided leaflet earlier, which took six glossy pages to provide approximately 2 pieces of actual information, and in doing so efficiently managed an act of staggering rhetorical dishonesty: one lovely, humane, expansive definition of what "carer" means, according to some random nonprofit's private definition, and also the actual UK government legal definition, which is literally just "a person who cares for another", which — being a legal definition — isn't meaningful without supplying the matching legal definiton of "care". Which it didn't.
It then went on to blithely list the legal rights accorded to carers, and someone less versed in being fucking lied to might well be fooled into thinking that they therefore qualified, because they meet the lovely, humane, expansive definition which, in terms of its legal force, is meaningless.
The DWP takes some stick (though not nearly enough, not until people are facing the fucking Hague) for being the hypervisible face of British government lebensunwerten leben policy; no reckoning is going to be complete until it's documented just how complicit the fucking NHS has been.
