Suddenly, THREE FUTURISTIC SPACE FIGHTER PLANES zip noisily across the frame
CUT TO: INTERIOR, DAY: a man in a penal uniform sits in a waiting room chair, head down.
CUT TO: EXTERIOR, DAY: the spacefighters, in formation. The lead fighter starts to pull a barrel roll.
VOICEOVER: pilot whooping.
CUT TO: INTERIOR, DAY: a closeup on the trembling hands of the man in the penal uniform.
CUT TO: EXTERIOR, DAY: the barrel roll takes the lead fighter too close to one of its wingmen. Its wash destabilises the other fighter's flight.
SFX: plane diving noise, escalating.
CUT TO: EXTERIOR, DAY: the burning, debris-strewn furrow of a plane crash.
VOICEOVER, a DISPASSIONATE OFFICIAL VOICE: You're a liability. You're a danger to yourself and others. And you will never fly again.
CUT TO: DEEP SPACE, a TUMBLING WRECKED SHIP.
CUT TO: WRECKED SHIP INTERIOR. Dimly blue-lit, sparks, zero-G floating debris. A still, uniformed, floating body. ZOOM IN past it, on a cracked, wall-mounted VIEWSCREEN. An ALIEN FACE onscreen utters sinister noises. Glitchy, Teletext-style computer font SUBTITLES flicker through several partial gibberish TRANSLATIONS: "ALL", "EVERY BELONG", finishing on "ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US".
CUT TO: INTERIOR, DAY: the man in the penal uniform raises his head.
CUT TO: INTERIOR, DAY: same man, same seated posture. Older now, in different surroundings.
VOICEOVER, in a WARM, AVUNCULAR voice: "This is a chance. A chance for humanity's survival — and for your redemption."
CUT TO: EXTERIOR, DAY: a SPACEFIGHTER CARRIER FLIGHT DECK. The man slides on a FLIGHT HELMET, while his SPACEFIGHTER'S ENGINES spool up behind him.
VOICEOVER, in crackly radio voice: "Uh, take off every Zig. Over."
CUT TO: DEEP SPACE. The SPACEFIGHTER CARRIER, flying away from the camera. PULL BACK slowly to reveal it in the middle of a formation of other ships, and then suddenly and rapidly to contrast them against the overwhelming force of ALIEN MEGASHIPS they're flying directly toward.
