"Music you can play exactly in the duration of recording John Cage's 4'33 includes: other recording of 4'33" raises the prospect of arbitrarily recursive 4'33, which definitely feels like some kind of horrible ritual magic
You're here for the fic; all of it is also on my personal site.
"Music you can play exactly in the duration of recording John Cage's 4'33 includes: other recording of 4'33" raises the prospect of arbitrarily recursive 4'33, which definitely feels like some kind of horrible ritual magic
it would at least be -quiet- ritual magic. Nice to not disturb the neighbours for once XD
Due to the nature of the performance you could play an arbitrary number of performances of 4’33 at double or even quadruple speed without losing any fidelity from the original, meaning that you can not only have arbitrarily recursive 4’33 you can have 4X or more layers of it
What speed would part of the venue have to be travelling at relative to the rest for time dilation to permit the inclusion of a full-length half-speed 4'33 in the performance?
(this is a real, and potentially answerable, maths problem. please do not feel obligated to answer it XD)
oh my goodness I don't have the maths brain for this but I AM going to keep it in my back pocket for when I have an urgent need to nerdsnipe one of my stellar mechanics friends
oh no you have stellar mechanics friends, don't share my next project with them please they'll catch all my layperson mistakes >.>''
I never share fiction projects for science analysis unless requested or anonymous ("holy shit this is rad, would this work?") so you're completely safe!
Time dilation always slows down the clock that's moving with respect to your frame of reference, so it's always going to be your performance that fits into half the time you observe theirs to take;
if I understand my hasty reading correctly, you'd need to be observing time events with a Lorentz factor of 2, which is a relative velocity of 0.866c
