Reading a series of "the feminine/masculine urge to—" jokes and randomly struck by the horrible remembrance that one of the most revered autism researchers in the field to this fucking day has published "theories of autism" which are a) taken absolutely seriously by most of the field, and b) consist of literally no more substance than "men are like this! and women are like this! and autistics are like [horrific antique pseudoscience stereotype]! which if you plot a line of best fit through them, means autism is having a Man Brain, but too much"

oh yeah the "extreme male brain" theory of autism is so transparently stupid and contrary to the reality of so many autistic people that it's shocking anyone can take it seriously

Baron-Cohen, who when challenged about eugenics wrt to a currently-running Cambridge University genetic survey of autistic people which he's involved in running, literally went "oh no, of course it's not about being able to abort autistic children! For example, some kinds could even go on to be professors of mathematics at Cambridge, and this might enable us to genetically tell which ones, for Reasons :)"

truly the foremost modern heir to Asperger's work in determining which autistics could be diverted into jobs instead of shipped to the camps
