I feel vindicated! I had to read Old Man and the Sea in 8th grade and spent the whole time writing class journal entries about how awkward Hemingway's sentence structure is (linking it to whatever topic we were supposed to write about). I had a good teacher but she LOVED Hemingway so it was a very contentious section.
