Aka the "let's make a bunch of gays do swinging and see if their relationship survives" show

It was fun hot garbage for the most part

My gf was like "there needs to be silly competitions on this show." And that's 100% true. I feel like if there was a "tonal break" in the middle for ten minutes with queers playing supermarket sweep or silly trust building exercises or something, I would have wanted to root for these people more. And the rest of the show can be drama.

Also the obsession with marriage on this show, especially for queers, it's like... it's like so silly. It's framing itself as a marriage bootcamp, like "you must SUFFER to be good for the WAR, I mean, THE MARRIAGE" and... What are you talking about. We, as a community, literally fought for marriage. We can fuck up marriage if we want to.

I've never been a dating show kind of guy--I did watch some Bachelor in college because my roommate was invested, and I both get why it's compelling and have no interest in watching that straight bullshit ever again, lol--but it was really nice to see a TV show that centered people who I felt like I recognized from the family, lol, and it took their relationships too seriously.

THAT SAID.
Can you imagine a mostly-bi t4t season??

This show was already 40% non-binary, a fact people with eyes notice but the only time transness came up was one contestant mentioned gender questioning. My gf and I just referred to all of the mascs with he/him pronouns while we were watching, kind of like the opposite of the gay she, because the show didn't give the contestants a chance to explain and we didn't trust the constant "she/her"ing of these people.

It felt a lot like early-and-middle Drag Race season casting rules, like "you can come on the show if you'll let us call you the pronouns we want and you can do some hormones or something afterward." (Though?? Tiff has had some T, right?? Or are their genes just more masc than mine?? Which I love for them.)

I guess there are two conflicting thoughts in my head here: "I would watch a t4t season in a heartbeat" and also "Oh god please more trans people don't need to suffer on this show" lol. If they cast seeking trans people instead of just being accidentally trans, you know the cast would deliver the hot garbage. And I would love it.
