"i block anyone with no age in bio" lady i have a livejournal account that's older than you
Just a reminder from a former social media investigator… I don’t recommend putting your age in your bio (or your zodiac sign) because that can help people confirm that the account belongs to you.
But I mean, I’m also over here with the username “my real first name + my real last name” and have my real face as my profile photo, and that’s much worse. 😅
That said, just like most people don’t know Cohost exists, most investigators don’t know about this site, so you’re probably free to do whatever you want. (I never tried finding anything on Tumblr because the culture there made it very difficult because it’s so interest-oriented and anonymous, and I assume Cohost is the same.)
Also, the main times you should worry about social media investigating (in my experience) are 1. If you filed a workers compensation claim
2. If you’re in a lawsuit with a company or a rich person
- If your spouse or relatives have done either thing (don’t post about them)
- If you’re applying for a new job***
- Of course, if you’ve got an “amateur”/a stalker after you
- I also assume the police etc. do this as well, and I know nothing about that.
***though I suspect this isn’t that common considering how expensive an investigation is. I only personally know about this happening for a firm hiring lawyers and for a candidate for an executive job. This is more complicated than a standard background check, which makes it expensive.
Um… feel free to send me asks about this if anyone who found this has any questions? I don’t think there’s much reason to be paranoid, especially on Cohost, but it’s just good to keep in mind that these people are out there.
