some furries way back when used to be SO anal-retentive about calling yourself a scalie/featherie/etc instead of a furry depending on your fursona species. Like it was unreal. I am so glad we all collectively realized that Species Are Fake and we all call ourselves one thing now
Most furries I see only jokingly enforce it. They don't actually care they just say it to be funny.
