in which it is revealed that I am actually just attempting to post on average about One Thought or Event That Happened Per Day, and instead of waiting for the day-in-review journal, I had some free time just now and looked at my to-do list, which is kept on LINE as an unsent message, to an official LINE account, that is perpetually edited, and saw "cohost about curry"
I should note that LINE has an actual feature where you can keep notes that is synced and more convenient in every way. I do not use it. maybe posting "I do not use it" will make me actually use it. who knows, I still keep my "songs I can sing in karaoke" list in an unsent Gmail draft
anyway so curry
I think I posted about going to Hinoya Curry with some friends for the first time the other week. it's the kind of curry place that I assumed was a one-of (or one-of-few) up until I went there, at which point it unlocked on my minimap and suddenly I was running into it in all of my travels (I mean, it's not hard! it's got a bright green banner and everything!)
the first time I ate Hinoya Curry, I had the classic pork katsu curry, a perennial favorite of mine. I really enjoyed how it was fairly spicy in the mouth but fairly sweet going down, a taste texture that I dare not use any braincells to contemplate the plausibility of.
the second time, I decided to try the Tomato-yaki Double Cheese Curry, which is prepared with the following approximate process
- Make one (1) curry
- Add halved tomatoes (the small kind)
- Add shredded cheese
- Add blowtorch
- Add more cheese
- Add more blowtorch (dual-wield this time)
I should note that at this point I contemplated how many of my foods are just pizza rearranged in different forms.
the tomyakdubcheese curry, as I will never call it again, smelled exactly like a pizza and tasted exactly like oh god, my mouth is so hot in multiple different ways. I had kind of assumed that Something between the cheese, the tomato, and the more cheese would undercut the spice and make it more manageable, but either I was wrong, I was unlucky this day, or my cat's-tongue status debuff (I mean, the curry WAS blowtorched) made things even more difficult for me. I cannot emphasize enough how important "let it sit for a few minutes or maybe just throw it in the fridge or something? idk" is to the food preparation process if you are making food for me in my apartment for some reason (or yours, I suppose)
I did however try the little rice-krispie-esque shaker of toasted (?) rice provided at the table, and found that it provided a nice crispy texture to contrast the rest of the Melt, with pretty much no change to taste. recommended.
overall, I would try this curry again despite my suffering (which may have also been induced by going for the same-price large in a moment of Value Hunting). when I could really taste the tomato and cheese, it was great, but most of the time, I was switching between enjoying curry flavor and downing glass upon glass of water in an attempt to bring salvation to my wretched soul
this post was so nice I had to write it twice thanks to an internet mishap! check the drafts folder in cohost when you have no cohosts for a fun time
