i went to three arcades today, because I was off work on a Friday and figured I'd recruit everyone's favorite teinei na intaanetto seikatsu virtual nurse into their chunithm character list, rounding out my rotation of a nice rogue-ish shrine maiden whose lore (not linked) is apparently fairly gruesome, Do Not Click On This Boy At Work, and a Toyota Prius
the first arcade I went to had no music games (sans the requisite taiko) but an entire floor dedicated to various generations of horse games. I am considered a High Risk target for falling into the horse rabbit hole (... hmm) given how much I enjoyed but did not pay into Derby Owner's Club as a young canon.
the difficulty right now is that Umamusume has too long of a core loop to play on my phone enjoyably, and horse arcade games are extremely betting-focused, and I love character raising stuff way way more than Horsebet. what I'm saying is that it's over for me as soon as umamusume goes to arcades or home consoles in an interesting way. english umamusume is also a possibility, but it feels like cheating to not use it to force my japanese to level up
the second arcade I went to smelled comically like smoke on the music games floor, despite zero smoking games or smoking rooms existing on the floor, and, thinking about it, zero people also. I can only assume the horsebet floor directly below must have been smoking up a chimney
the third arcade I went to did have one chunithm machine, buried behind all the purikura right next to a surprisingly active jubeat cab. i got halfway through my first credit before I realized - I never paid for my credit. to my surprise, there were actually two free credits in the cab, and I had unknowingly consumed the first. lucky day!
