unvoiced 2* in a tokyo apartment trying to weld end-of-service anime characters into playstation 1 party games

relatively straightforward episode introducing a new character and increasing the number of characters who are just sitting around and foreshadowing

also, "sakura parts the red sea" was not on my bingo card

what happened this episode

Akiho Shinomoto, a new transfer student who's been around the world, joins Sakura's class. she and Sakura get along super well, and discuss how their names are similar. Sakura sees a bunch of trees just ripping themselves out of the ground and causes a huge ruckus in class, which no one else understands for some reason. Tomoyo immediately deadpans "uh Sakura is uh dying of uh sick" and Sakura is like "??? oh. right. I am Very Sick yes. Oof". Sakura stands in the middle of a bunch of Alive Trees as they pick the school gate's lock and attempt to rush to freedom, but eventually subdues them and captures Action. Yue examines Sakura's clear cards and notes they have no magic ability, and that her staff might be the key. Syaoran and Sakura have a ship moment where Sakura requests to make bento for Syaoran and asks if she can call anytime, not just when things happen. Syaoran later calls Eriol, who continues to request that Syaoran hold himself back for the purpose of a mysterious future event

liveblog

  • Yamazaki and Tomoyo have about one joke in this entire season so far, and like, I'm proud of them and their joke, but I kind of wish it wasn't a 3 minute staple of every episode

  • I contemplated whether it's a pain in the butt to have to bring, unfurl, and re-fold a blanket for sitting purposes during lunch every day. But having lunch outside is nice

  • I realized this episode that we're now at the point where Yukito knows about Kero, but Kero has to pretend to be a stuffed doll around Touya still. Poor Touya, he's only like the fourth character so far this season to be sitting around waiting for mysterious things to happen.

  • Practically everyone in this show uses wired earbuds when they make phone calls. That's a good decision that I have done approximately never
