what happened this episode
sakura runs into akiho in town and they chat; akiho has a rabbit plushie she always carries in her bag. MEILING ALERT sakura has a video call with meiling, who says she'll come to japan in the summer and sasses sakura for being airheaded about syaoran. sakura hears a hissing sound and is torn into closed space during dinner, where the mysterious masked person appears to be collection clocks. at school, everyone tries to recruit akiho into their club. tomoyo pulls syaoran and everyone else into the chorus room and sings with akiho. sakura senses a clear card and, with syaoran present, captures Record. syaoran is frustrated that he can't sense these cards at all

the easiest way to get me to like a character is to 1) convince me it's hipster to do so, and 2) give them a little suffering (not pictured in this season for meiling), so I've been a meiling person recently. I don't think it's actually a hipster position at all, but I am entertained with how CCS specifically has splits in canon depending on whether you main the anime, the manga, only ever watched cardcaptors, or know like any other clamp meta work.

by the way, I think it's funny that sakura video calls meiling, but was not pictured video calling anyone else important in the anime like syaoran or eriol

i rag on tomoyo and yamazaki for only having one joke (neither had their joke this episode), but kero is getting on the list also for just kind of being a brat who has no sense of operational security who will transform into kereberos just to yell at meiling over the phone. sorry touya for having to probably pretend he can't hear all that from downstairs

there's a little bit where one of sakura's teachers talks about how dreams can be premonitions and like. you can't pretend sakura is surprised by this. i was literally playing a ps1 video game based on season 1 ccs that had the same thing

the specific optics of "the two people who, legally, are dating in this show, asking tomoyo to use the chorus room alone" are kind a don't-think-about-it kinda moment. I mean tomoyo is smart enough to know, but also both canonically would probably be suffering because of lack of video recording and fanonically would be suffering because I am needlessly cruel. Sorry Tomoyo
