unvoiced 2* in a tokyo apartment trying to weld end-of-service anime characters into playstation 1 party games

I'm pretty sure I had zero or negative thoughts about nakuru / ruby moon in the original anime, but the more I see her the more I'm convinced she's actually pretty good. this is because she's basically an energetic dumbass who makes funny faces and occasionally turns on the charm. this is really annoying when you are like 10 but rules when you're 30. who doesn't want to be that

what happened this episode

sakura discovers that akiho lives in eriol's old house. akiho invites the core cast over to her house, but syaoran declines for no clear reason. sakura asks syaoran on a date, which he agrees to in the most i'm-now-not-sure-if-they-are-official way. touya acts ominously around sakura but continues to do nothing. momo, akiho's totally inanimate not-kero-analogue plushie, gets an eyecatch, which is a normal thing for an inanimate plushie to have. at akiho's house, it is revealed that akiho's Important Person is "yuna d. kaito", who is a flawless ikemen mcbutlerface. akiho has weird vibes when kaito says he only is able to do things so well because it's part of his job. sakura seals Lucid effectively while akiho's back is turned. akiho reveals she came to japan for a book called "alice in clock land", a totally normal book with no cover that's written in like fucking wingdings. akiho learned to read it anyway, but kaito "coincidentally" interrupts before she can say more. the book glows. everyone in england continues to do nothing ominously

  • sakura explicitly is attempting to avoid saying hanyaa~n because she is older and more mature now. this is a real "the times are changing moment" for sakura fans, which is personally funny when juxtaposed against how perfect butler kaito seems to have stepped out of the late 2000s.

  • there's a kernel of fic information in here somewhere where tomoyo begins working on costumes for syaoran too, with the reasoning being that his look can complement sakura's and make her shine even more. in my fic hell, tomoyo's selflessness is true, but only so long as she never thinks she has a chance.

  • the cheerleading club was blasting a nice 90s pop-type song with genesis-ass soundfont. sign me up.

  • I feel like cards weren't so easy to capture back in the original anime. in this one sakura is literally just like "oh I sense a card. oh this part of the bookshelf is invisible. must be a card. ok I sealed it". feels weird

  • next episode is an intentional reprise (right down to the title) of sakura's first date to the aquarium with yukito, except with syaoran. it's easy reference points but I am absolutely here for this specifically
