what happened this episode
tomoyo is the first to realize all the clear cards have parallels to the sakura cards. syaoran and yamakazi head a committee to hold a ball-sports festival. syaoran's stare-off this episode is with kaito. syaoran calls eriol, who is sus about the D (sorry, exact phrase from my notes) in kaito's name, because it's got some english magic significance. I have no idea if this is clamp stuff. syaoran can sense the vibes about kaito, but not sakura, which might be related to their forms of magic. sakura senses a card while doing the dishes, and it's a prankster in the park that flips penguins upside down. with kero's assistance (and video recording by proxy for tomoyo), sakura outwits it (by flying, since there's no such thing as flipping midair, I guess), and captures Reversal

fittingly for an episode about Reversal, this episode hit me with some legitimately unexpected and good subversions. yamazaki tells a long-winded fact about badminton that is completely truthful (baffling chiharu), and sakura gets inverted right in the middle of capturing reversal (cutting off her usual speech and heroic music). this episode felt really fresh and full of notable moments and I appreciate that

hey if you're a kaho/eriol person you got legitimately fed this episode. i have no idea if people ship this or anti-ship this because idk there is so much going on there and I have exactly no opinion, but this is cardcaptor sakura so it's relationship martial law out here and the closest thing to a rule is that everybody has to go through a yukito phase

bonus points to this episode for existing outside of a bubble, since phone footage of the flipped penguins made the tomoeda nightly news. slightly less bonus points for sakura having to slip away on foot (just use cloak!)
