one shot of sakura shooting hoops would have sufficed, but the animation staff went for three consecutive plays of sakura shooting, passing, and shooting again. they really wanted to animate some sports
what happened this episode
akiho talks to kaito about her dreams, which sound like sakura's dreams but mirrored. kaito speaks ominously of it. sakura's dad makes a surprise visit home, and sakura enjoys breakfast with him before dashing off to the ball-sports festival. sakura throws down some hoops, and syaoran has a badminton-off with akiho. kero is tomoyo's partner-in-camera again. a huge hailstorm localized on the school comes out of nowhere, and syaoran helps sakura seal Hail by casting first an ineffective fire spell, then a cooler fire spell. it's unclear if this is significant. sakura tries to push yukito to be tougher on touya because he is pushing himself too hard. sakura has another dream, but this time, begins to hear akiho's voice, though she doesn't recognize it. the masked person stands on a telephone pole outside again

100% of the people I recall playing badminton were asian friends I had in high school, so that checks out

the scene where sakura speaks with yukito and plays relationship advisor is pretty sweet from many angles and I liked it a lot
