"like taking candy from a baby, which is fine by me"
going near any urban center is a trick and definitely not a treat on the weekend of halloween, so I stayed at home and gave a game I had always sort of Wondered About a shot: that's right, Shadow the Hedgehog (2005).
I'll dedicate a full post to it later but this is definitely my kind of game: it's short, not technically good, and full of ideas, some of which are over-realized and some of which are extremely under-realized. the menus are the most impossibly 2005 thing imaginable and, contrary to expectations, "where's that DAMN fourth chaos emerald" is actually only like the third or fourth funniest line in the game.
year of the lich
I had some time to read most of Disciple of the Lich v4 today as well. this book is exceptionally relatable to anyone who plays RPGs and thinks "hmm I didn't one-shot this enemy. am I the problem?". excellent book full of at least four idiots who are all idiots in mildly but not entirely overlapping ways.
most of the book reading time was spent standing outside an American seafood chain waiting for a takeout order, because it turns out I misunderstood over the phone and you actually need to bring a pot for them to cook soup in (and for you to bring home) if you want takeout soup. I have something in common with Pekora now I guess
