after many years, I finally went to The Place With The Bowling Pin In Front Of It (Round 1) for bowling, meeting up with a friend who's picking up bowling as a hobby and some of their friends.
it's actually my first time bowling both in Japan and probably in about a decade, though I grew up in a Bowling Household. in fact, I think PBA Bowling 95 is the only Bethesda game I have played
if I had to describe how Round 1 bowling is, it'd be "very excessive", with touchscreen monitors, full screen video behind the lanes, and just enormous food upsells. I had fun bowling 4 games and doing a mild social but some of me misses the janky physical-button UI and early 2000s CG strike animations that are part of 90s kids's collective bowling memery and memory.
that said, I did figure out how to set the animations to Hololive Mode so that Pekora would tell me Miss! No worries, instead of having "Don't Mind! Coca-Cola" sponsoring all the times I left a pin or two out on the lane.
also I scored a high of like 130 and broke 100 twice in four games for third place! so I'm proud of that.
the rest of the day was bookended by accidentally rewatching half of Hbomberguy's video essay on New Vegas while eating dinner and also working on cracking open Gran Turismo 4 using the excellent tools available in the discord zone. hopefully will have more exciting to say about that soon
