i make indie games

unvoiced 2* in a tokyo apartment trying to weld end-of-service anime characters into playstation 1 party games

i've been up for too long because i had a dream about nested escape rooms that ending up become meta and continuing past a fake "ending" to the escape game

going on a bit of a weekend trip (not to comiket!), so I need to actually do some packing and cleaning this morning. I'm a little more unprepared than usual because it's a short trip and I depart at lunchtime instead of comically early in the morning (mostly because shinkansen tickets are hard to get)

tbh I want to watch bullet train on the bullet train but I will probably just sleep or try games on my 3ds (next up is dragon quest viii)

in this daily post

  • I go to karaoke
  • Granblue makes me officially take ownership of my first Disaster Man

(and a hello to everyone following from Sports Story or other places! glad you're here. I like to do daily posts about my life as a memo to myself, as well as throwing up a ton of words whenever I feel I gotta)

hung out with some friends from norcal I haven't seen a while today, and talked about all sorts of things. we were gonna go to a board game cafe but I didn't anticipate that all of them would be booked full on new year's eve eve eve (even at surge pricing rates!), so we walked around for a while and ended up at utahiroba for karaoke. I didn't realize utahiroba was even more dirt cheap than I expected (given that the drink bar price is baked into the 230y/h weekend half-hour rate). it's... honestly not that much worse than other karaoke places despite the stark difference in prices

I'm still searching for a karaoke place which will have kiri no pithos (2010) though. of course none will, so I have to stick to my main rotation (anison from 2007, any higurashi song, imas songs but only ones that are about breakups and yearning**)

** this most obviously means me ga au toki but also means futari no kioku

had chicken and waffles for lunch, then carried panda express the whole way home (not for me, I had retort pouch pasta).

read the new granblue event (the magnificent mole troupe) and was heavily affected by it - calling it event of the year is a hard sell because granblue intentionally goes for a bunch of different event styles (action movie, shinkai movie, yurucamp) but it personally is for me, even in a year with a gay fox family event

this one is relatively low-stakes and about four misfits (only one of which is a human, in an inverse amogus) finding togetherness among each other, and understanding their place in the world. strong words about not needing to force yourself into society's mold because it's "what's right" and about it being ok to do things because you enjoy them, even if you're not skilled or ambitious.

also the Disaster "I Can Fix Him" Man, who is officially now my poor baby, veers for exactly one line into "have you ever thought that you wanted to die" and if granblue had actually tried to deliver anything on depression I would have had to convince all of you that this event was It.

as is, instead it just treads onto more safe but still meaningful messages and has the decency to not close with a starkly saccharine ending. can you believe this event is the month before vikala flb

this event also says you can be very hot if you're a painter, farmer, or straightedged in a suit
