Oh dear, you've made a right mess of things. For one reason or other, the law knows your name and face, and you've been declared CAPUT LUPINUM; the Wolf's Head has been put upon your name, and you have two choices. Either disguise yourself, take on a new guise, garb, and profession, or become more yourself. Become the wolf baying at the door.

When you reach level 9, you can choose to either multiclass and gain abilities from another job as you level up, or become into a more powerful version of your starting job.

A Final Fantasy and D&D 4e Paragon Path/Epic Destiny inspired elaboration on the class system in The Merry Band, I am very satisfied with the narrative framing.

I wanted simple classes that you could either multiclass or prestige into, to use some Gaming shorthand, and I think finally cracked a method for either breadth or depth in terms of character customization.

Other inspiration: Lancer having simple sets of licenses that you can pick up piecemeal. I was thinking about why your character would multiclass vs being a pretty princess that can do everything (not that there's anything wrong with that) and the concept of your character concealing their identity immediately sprang to mind.
