i feel like both writers and visual artists constantly have the hard work they put in minimized by other people but in different ways. with artists you get people being like "i can't even draw a stick figure!" which is invalidating all of the hard work that the person but into perfecting their craft, instead treating it as some sort of Innate Ability that certain people possess. meanwhile with writers you get the "oh, I've been thinking about writing a novel", as if writing a decent novel is a thing you can just do with minimal effort or work. writing is seen as something anyone can do with no work and art is seen as basically magic but both of those things are skills that have been developed.
