Artist asks: 8. What do you like most about your own work? & 14. How has your art changed over the years?

8. What do you like most about your own work?
I think the thing I like the most about my work is that it's mine!
There's just a certain way I draw things that's made it so I enjoy looking at my own art a lot!

14. How has your art changed over the years?

  • Everything was drawn on notebook paper, then printer paper; now I draw on blank notecards, watercolor paper, &/or on a tablet for digital art!
  • Everything was colored with colored pencils, then watercolors; I now use India Inks &/or CSP EX for digital art!
  • I'm pretty sure every character's eyes that I drew were once all tall ovals; now I make sure that my characters have a lovely variety of eye shapes! (Very few have those tall oval eyes today!)
  • I used to be pretty much incapable of drawing a body that wasn't skinny; now I can draw pretty much any body type today, although I may need some practice & reference images with certain details on muscular & skinny bodies!
  • I used to only draw side profiles for years; now I can draw 3/4 profiles, front profiles, & back profiles, although I think I need a little more practice with backs today!

6, 20, and 21 for the ask game!

6. What artists inspire you right now?
I don't really have any particular artists who inspire me; I've never really been a person who looks up to other people!
I'm usually moreso inspired by the things I see in person my life OR very specific pieces a person made rather than being inspired by the person themself. It's like how I often find myself liking a single song made by one artist instead of liking the whole album &/or the singer/music group themself.

20. What works have you drawn fanart of?
I'm not a fanartist, so I've barely made any fanart that you'd see posted online! I did used to draw fanart when I was a kid & teen though, so most of the list will consist of unseen kid art!

  • The Owl House, S1 Eda (Colored pencils on a notecard, 2020)
  • Undertale (Colored pencils & perler beads, middle-high school)
  • FNAF (Colored pencils on notebook paper, middle school)
  • Skylanders series (Colored pencils on notebook paper, middle school)
  • Ice Age, Scrat (Crayons on paper, elementary school)
  • Goosebumps, assorted monsters (Crayons on paper, elementary school)
  • Lilo & Stitch, Stitch (Crayons on paper, elementary school)

21. Weirdest thing you've ever drawn?
Asking me this question is essentially asking, "What is the most beautiful thing you've ever drawn?" And trying to pick one will always be the wrong choice! So instead, I will show you the weirdest thing I've ever thrown! As in, throwing pottery on the wheel!

This is what I call "The Monster Bowl!"
(Outside of bowl!) & (Inside of bowl!)
This was made in 2018 during a week-long pottery class during summer break! It was supposed to be yellow with a starry sky inside, but the kiln had other plans, & made a piece like no other!

Additionally, here's the character I made based off of my "Monster Bowl!" Their name is Tōki & they're a Pottery Monster! (Image here!)
